Frequently Asked Questions

What type of massage is right for me?

It all depends on what your needs and wants are from an appointment. I use a blend of techniques, tailored just for you, to respond to your physical and nervous system needs. These techniques may include:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Deep Tissue Massage
  • Myofascial Release / Trigger Point Therapy
  • Stretching

During your first visit consultation, we'll discuss your individual wants and goals for treatment and any special needs you have. Then, we'll determine the best way to make progress for you and come up with a jointly agreed treatment plan.

How early should I arrive for my appointment?

Arriving around 5 minutes before your appointment is perfect as it allows you time and space to rest in the waiting area, grab some water and use the bathroom if needed. Please arrive at most 10 minutes before your appointment as the waiting area is relaxing but small.

Also, if you are late for your session you will receive the remainder of your massage and I won’t be able to make up the time afterwards. I use the time I have between sessions to reset the treatment room, check my notes from your previous appointments and grab something to drink/eat.

What appointment duration should I book?

It all depends on what you want to get out of massage therapy. If it’s your first appointment with me I would recommend at least a 60 minute massage appointment so you can share the outcomes you want to get from the session without feeling rushed. This also gives me time to get to know your body and what the best techniques to use are.

Your appointment duration also includes time for consultation and history taking (first appointments) as well as the hands of work. I will always do my best to maximise your massage time within the time of your appointment.

Outside of the first appointment it’s entirely your preference of what to book but as an indicator:

  • 80 minutes is great for a fully unwinding full body massage or highly focused session on one half of the body
  • 60 minutes gives the perfect amount of time for comprehensive upper body or lower body massage
  • 40 minute appointments are great for consistent, regular sessions on one area of the body
